Becoming The Dream Leader

What if you could become the leader you are called to be?

Wherever you positively influence others — at work, at home, in your community, classroom, business, or ministry — you are leading.

Becoming the Dream Leader is a practical roadmap for aspiring and experienced leaders ready to break free from Dream Traps, grow with greater intention, and lead with clarity, confidence, courage, and purpose.

Through the D.R.E.A.M. B.I.G. G.R.O.W. Framework, practical tools, reflection, and coaching insights, you will learn how to strengthen your leadership, take bold action, develop others, build healthier teams and organizations, shape culture, and create lasting impact.

Leadership is not simply about a title or position. It is about who you are becoming and the impact your leadership has on the people around you.

You do not have to keep repeating leadership patterns that no longer serve you.

You can become more self-aware, make different decisions, lead with greater intention, develop people instead of carrying everything yourself, build trust, strengthen teams, and help create a healthier culture.

You can become the leader you wish you had.

This book will help you:

ONE BOOK — Start With You.

Begin your personal Dream Leader journey. Read, reflect, identify what may be holding you back, and become more intentional about the leader you are becoming.

TWO BOOKS — Grow With Someone.

Share the journey with a colleague, spouse, friend, mentor, accountability partner, ministry partner, or fellow leader. Read together. Reflect together. Challenge and encourage one another as you grow.

DREAM CIRCLE — Gather Your Circle. Grow Together.

Turn Becoming the Dream Leader into a shared growth experience with your leadership cohort, peer group, book club, women’s group, ministry, mentoring circle, team, or professional community.

What Kind of Leader Are You Becoming?

Take the Becoming the Dream Leader Assessment to reflect on the kind of leader you are today and gain greater clarity about your self-awareness, strengths, growth areas, and readiness for what is next.

Pause and reflect on where you are in your leadership journey. This quick self-assessment can help you uncover insights, identify opportunities for growth, recognize where Dream Traps may be getting in the way, and determine where you may need to become more intentional in the way you live and lead.

Your leadership shapes more than your own success.

Dream Leaders do more than pursue personal growth. They develop others, build trust, create clarity, take courageous action, and create the conditions for other people to contribute their strengths and grow.

As Dream Leaders grow, they become better equipped to build Dream Teams — teams where people understand the vision, take ownership, support one another, and pursue meaningful work together.

Strong Dream Teams help create Dream Organizations where people can grow, contribute, collaborate, and thrive. And Dream Organizations intentionally shape healthier cultures.

Become the Dream Leader. Lift other dream chasers. Build Dream Teams. Build Dream Organizations. Shape healthier cultures. Multiply the impact.

I wrote Becoming the Dream Leader because I believe leadership is too important to leave to titles, positions, or chance.

Every day, people are leading in workplaces, homes, classrooms, ministries, businesses, organizations, and communities. Yet many are carrying enormous responsibility while also wrestling with fear, self-doubt, burnout, overthinking, complacency, pressure, and patterns that quietly limit their growth.

I have also seen what becomes possible when leaders decide to change — when they become more intentional, gain clarity about who they are, stop allowing old patterns to determine how they lead, build the courage to take bold action, and recognize that their leadership affects far more than themselves.

My hope is that this book helps you become the leader you wish you had — the kind of leader who continues growing while helping others grow, who builds trust instead of fear, who creates possibility instead of limitation, and who uses influence to make a lasting difference.

Your leadership journey matters. And so do the people your leadership will touch.

— Dr. Maurine Kwende

Is Becoming the Dream Leader only for executives or managers?

No. Wherever you positively influence others, you are leading. The book is designed for aspiring and experienced leaders and for people leading at work, at home, in classrooms, communities, ministries, organizations, businesses, and other areas of life.

How is Becoming the Dream Leader different from Dream Big and Live Your Dreams Boldly?

Dream Big and Live Your Dreams Boldly introduces the foundational Dream Big journey and the D.R.E.A.M. B.I.G. Framework. Becoming the Dream Leader expands that journey through the D.R.E.A.M. B.I.G. G.R.O.W. Framework, with a deeper focus on leadership identity, Dream Traps, growth, influence, Dream Teams, Dream Organizations, and culture. Dream Big helps you pursue the dream. Becoming the Dream Leader helps you become the leader who can lead it, grow it, and multiply its impact.
